Color Selector Product
Cleveland — DayGlo Color Corp. launches an online, interactive Design Center on dayglo.com so designers can view new colors and pigments.
The new products include FDA-compliant fluorescent colorants and non-fluorescent special effect colors, including dual-tone pearlescent pigments, Gem-Tones (specialty dyes for clarified polypropylene) and UV-reactive invisible pigments. Cambio pigments have a dual-tone effect for plastic packaging.
“Our products can be used either on their own or with conventional colors to create a unique color space or special effects for packaging or displays,” says Kevin Sonby, vice president of marketing.
The Design Center allows users to apply a selection of DayGlo colors and effects to a rotating 3D object that can be viewed against white or black backgrounds. “Site visitors can see how DayGlo enhances color by virtually layering our fluorescent colors over cyan, magenta and yellow,” says Sonby. Colors can be combined “to replicate the expanded combination of colors that can be achieved by ‘boosting’ traditional colors with DayGlo,” Sonby says.
Users can download a high-resolution jpeg file of the 3D object along with product and color information, and request more information about the colors. They can also request samples through the site. “This initiates a loop back feature,” says Sonby, “through which someone from DayGlo’s Brand Action Team then contacts the person who requested a sample, and they work together to create the desired color or effect.”
The company’s marketing, business development and technical experts make up the Brand Action Team, and can work with brand owners and designers on the design and development of products, packaging and media platforms. The company developed its Brand Action Team concept earlier this year.
A full line of heat-reactive thermochromic products for plastics, coatings and graphic arts is expected to launch in the next few months.
